AI-assisted development

NistChemPy is human-maintained software. The project owner remains responsible for architecture decisions, code review, scientific interpretation, release choices, and data-use policy.

Starting with the 1.0.6 project cleanup/update and continuing through the 2.0.0 development line, OpenAI coding agents were used to assist with implementation, refactoring, documentation, and tests. Other AI models were also used to discuss architecture, implementation options, and project cleanup strategy.

AI-generated contributions are treated as implementation suggestions. They are reviewed, edited, tested, and accepted or rejected through the normal project workflow. AI assistance does not replace verification against the original NIST Chemistry WebBook pages, package tests, or human review of scientific and data-use assumptions.
